Hi Steve,
You can add the image as a background image in the css:
li {
     background: url('http://www........./yourbg-img.gif') no-repeat 
100%  50%; /* horizontal % vertical %; also px or em is possible */
}
In the html just the <li>text<>/li>.

That is: in this case yourbg-img.gif will be placed at 100% from left (= 
starting at the right side of the li-width, and then to the left), and 
vertically just centered in the line.
Perhaps the line-height has to be adapted to get the whole image displayed.
