Further to the the problem of using image replacement, yet requiring an anchor, Thierry Koblentz sent me the following link offlist:
http://www.tjkdesign.com/articles/tip.asp The last version worked for me, though i put the text inside the anchor, rather than leave it empty. Works for me, and i don't understand why it was left outside in the first place. I also set the font size to .1em (from 1em) and changed the colour to the same as the banner bg. I had to do that because the logo is a 24-bit transparent PNG. I'll play with it some more to see if i can avoid even that.
