What exactly do you mean by 'blowing out'? If its stretching to fit the image in then that's what table cells do. I guess you could make it a background image, depends on what it is you're aiming for. As a suggestion off the top of my head try setting some dimensions on the table cell with ems and set overflow: hidden; on it but I doubt it'll work.
