The 'total width' is the issue here. Since you're using absolute
positioning for everything, you'll also have to give the new
centering-div at least the same width, or else everything will be
offset. I gave you a styleset with such a width the last time around -
since I tested the solution before sending it onto the list, and nothing
has changed since then.

HTML:
<body ..... >
<div id="page">
...
</div>
</body>

CSS:
body {text-align: center;}

#page {margin: 0 auto; position: relative; width: 860px; text-align: left;}

...note the 'width' and 'position: relative'.

The above enters the page perfectly in Firefox 1.5.0.4, Opera 9.00,
Netscape 7.2 and IE6, and I would think all other css-capable browsers
made in the last 5 years or so, and a few, not so capable, older IE/win
versions.

The 'total height' doesn't make much of an impression though, since all
my browsers have a default of 'minimum font size: 14px' and your
'fixed-height' layout creates overlapping - making the text hard to
understand. IE/win with its 16px 'ignore font sizes...' provides no
better results.

I don't mind people having small text and fixed dimensions on their web
sites, but my browser-defaults won't change since I can't read small
text, and I don't think I'm the only one. So, if a site doesn't
accommodate reasonable browser-options, that site simply doesn't work.
