My first impression: "that is impossible!" ...

The faux columns technique is using images for the side column's colors.
And if the images aren't downloaded too, or not placed in the local map 
"../images/" (as the stylesheet wants), then .... a significant difference!

But I admit: at first sight the explication was beyond my horizon of 
complex searching brains! ;-)
