Just for the record, you can do flexible width table layouts too. But
I'm being cast as the table advocate, which is not why I'm here. I was
just sympathizing with the OP.

I've been studying since IE3, which ought to be long enough. There's
always more to know though, and I'll take your advice in the spirit it
