Impossible to debug screen shots. Do you have your own live page to link to?
Your example doesn't explain in full how you have "turned of the
wrapping" either, although it indicates the use of a fairly normal
technique.
FWIW: apart from the fact that wrapping that list in a table doesn't
make much sense, it may also be what Firefox chokes on.
Depending on slight timing-variations Firefox may decide that the table
is either as wide as the entire list, or as narrow as the widest
list-item. It's a "short-cut error" I've observed many times in Gecko,
but mostly in older versions.
Giving the table, or even the ol, a width, may stabilize things.
