    Unfortunately, this is impossible to diagnose without a real 
example of a live page with all of its content (or at least 
reasonable substitutes for the content with the exact same markup 
structure) up somewhere where we can all see it in browsers.  My 
guess is that you have a problem with margin collapsing, but maybe 
not.  Until the empty divs get filled with whatever goes into them on 
a regular page, we won't know.
