first problem I have not been able to see my web page in vista or IE 7 although it works fine in I.E. 6. My present operating system is windows 2000.
The doctype which I used was as follows. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd";> This is a part of my coding. <link rel="stylesheet" href="newindex.css" style type="text/css" /> I put the page through the validator. There are a number of errors. One of them is as follows: Line 28, character 50: ....t" href="newindex.css" style type="text/css" /> Error: style is not a member of a group specified for any attribute Could someone please tell me what this means. second problem I changed the doctype to: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> and I think that it is working in IE7 but maybe changing the doctype was not the right thing to do. I am fairly new at coding and would be very grateful for any help.
