Hello all,

I am new to the list, but have a sticky problem I hope I can get some ideas on.

My wife provided me with a design, and I am trying to implement it in
CSS. I have a working version, but i think it is suboptimal. The
element that is giving me trouble is this:
There is an image on a background with multiple colors which is
slanted (that is, a rectangular photo that is tilted at an angle), has
a border, and a transparent shadow.

I have found means of doing 3/4 with a JPG and a PNG image. I found this page:
http://www.photoshoplab.com/fun-with-transparent-png-images.html
with this example:
http://www.photoshoplab.com/examples/png_fun/ex2.html

I would be able to implement this slightly differently, masking out
the unused portions of a jpg that is rectangular, bounding the tilted
photo. What I would not be able to do is "cleanly" match the break in
the background colors in the PNG.

I would also be able to do everything but the slang with a JPG and a
PNG border with the shadow pretty easily.

I know this is a bit tricky. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to post
links to the sites in question here, so I will refrain for now. If
preferable i can send an attachment to the list with the design.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

-Lee

P.S. I currently have this implemented with a single PNG, but the
image files are far too large in my opinion; hence my search for a
cleaner solution.
