Thanks David and Thierry and everyone, That was it -- stupid mistake. Somewhere along the line I deleted that style from my stylesheet -- no idea how or why. So adding it back in that had the clear: both; style in it got all working again. I was looking at everything else and never thought I might have deleted out the style -- doh...
