Hello Tom, targeting the latest versions of particular browsers is a 
dangerous and risky business but the Gecko team did make it easier to 
target FF3 (Gecko 1.9) and no other browser that supports both attribute 
selectors and negation.


*.class:not([class*=""])

or

*#ID:not([class*=""])


This is due to the Gecko team seeing this selector


*.class[class*=""]


which matches anything now as a bug [1] and thus breaking 
interoperability with other browsers (IE7, Gecko-1.7~1.8, WebKit and 
Opera) that matches it [2].




BTW, why are you hacking FF3? Is it a bug in FF3 or is it FF3 doing 
something right? Apart from us learning hacks on CSS discuss, it's also 
beneficial for web designers to know particular problems that other web 
designers discover or are faced with. Do you have a URL or minor 
description of the problem?
