   I see a horizontal scrollbar in Firefox -- if my browser window is
   less than a certain width.

   If you let the page expand or contract according to the viewer's
   window, instead of giving it a fixed width (e.g., 60% instead of
   680px), there wouldn't be a scrollbar.
