Yes, I "misuse" DLs that way myself - but I'm trying to be a bit more
"correct" about usage, now - not because of any processing requirements,
but because when I'm discussing web page design and CSS with people
unfamiliar therewith, I'd like to get them started "right".  The best
way to do that has been (in my experience) to get into the habit of
rigorous correctness in my own work.  I'm a long way from that now, but
every little bit helps further on...

Generic emphasis of some sort - usually bold, but I've seen italic or
underlining.  My personal preference would be bold, but that's easy
enough to tweak; the important part - as you've discerned - is making
the DT and DD effectively inline to each other.

Thank you very much for your help; I'll test this when I next get a
chance to work on the website in question, and I'll report back my
findings.
