If the code is not valid, you cannot predict how the page will be displayed. Fixing it may solve your problem.
I also guess since I'm having an issue with this page that it obviously wouldn't validate correctly and I wouldn't be spending my time validating it until I fixed the issue.
Invalid HTML may *be* the issue. You cannot know until you have fixed it. The number of error shown may be misleading. Often, fixing one will also correct several subsequent errors.
