To all:

It is common error to think in terms of ASCII instead of viewing text through
the Browser eyes.

For example, I recently wrote a HEX viewer in PHP to view the headers of all
files (PDF, png, jpg, gif, etc.) on a web site . It worked great except for
viewing HTML files. I was taken back by the incident -- after all HTML is very
simple ASCII -- why wouldn't a Browser show the simple HTML?

The problem was that the Browser was interpreting characters before displaying
them and thus when it found a '<' (at the start of every HTML document) it
would not show anything further because it was waiting for instructions -- thus
a blank screen. It took me a while to figure it out.

So, even the most experienced slip-up occasionally with errors that are obvious
to others.

Cheers,

tedd
