Back in April of 2010, I posted a request for some CSS help in
http://lists.css-discuss.org/mailman/private/css-d/2010-April/100551.html
The thread devolved into a discussion of whether I was using the correct
HTML, and the little bit of CSS advice I got, I never actually got
around to testing, as it seemed unreasonably complex and likely prone to
error.
Recently, I encountered a similar need, though instead of modifying the
display of DT/DD, I was looking at headers and their body text.
Back in 2010, I didn't have the "technical" term for what I wanted to
do; now I do: run-in. When I googled that, I found several examples of
exactly what I was looking to do, and how to do it:
h5 { display: run-in; ... }
What I have not been able to find is any recent information regarding
browser support for this. Can anyone point me to a reasonably current
reference?
(This would also solve the problem I posed in the April 2010 thread:
dt { display: run-in; ... }
would appear to answer the question as posed. However, using the dfn tag
as suggested is arguably correct as well.)
