Ummm…  I’m assuming that bootstrap.css is included in your site’s file 
structure.  Make a backup.  Edit the original and it will “see” those changes.

I would search for all mentions of span8 in your bootstrap.css file and change 
it from a fixed value to a percentage: 60%.  That will then fill that available
