Check out OOCSS, which uses percent based grid units with no padding/margin,
which are therefor nestable.

"Units" (OOCSS's grid classes) are multiples of 20%, 25% & 33%.

Personally I like using a grid based system for main site layout (any sort
of multi column layout) and then use OOCSS for layout of the inner content.
