The Z Texas Client is provided free to Texas librarians by the Central Texas Library System and the Z Texas Project to publicize the value of the Z39.50 communications protocol for resource sharing in Texas -- hence the name Z Texas. The Client can be used to search the catalogs of Texas academic and public libraries which support Z39.50. Texas librarians can use the Client to download MARC records from catalogs of participating libraries, and the records can then be imported into a local library automation system. There are 53 Texas Z servers in the database (which was updated March 24, 2002). You can get the Client at http://www.ctls.net/ZTexas/ Contact Bob Gaines or Marvin Perez for help in getting or using the Client.
