Ancestry.Com or AncestryPlus http://www.ancestry.com "Ancestry Plus which is of tremendous value to our department. (We feel handicapped when it goes down temporarily.) " 3. (We first submitted our order in February 2002. We just got accessmid-September 2002.) We are truly disappointed in this database, especially waiting for so long. The advanced search features are not very helpful. It is common to search throughhundreds of records since you can only limit the search by yearsand/or places. There is no place to specify a spouse name. There is no comprehensive index and each database must be subscribed to separately. (We did not choose the census since we have access to these through Ancestry.) Very inconvenient for a library setting. We also have a subscription to Heritage Quest Online. It does not have much information, yet, but it is a promising site. Also, in a few months we will have access to a new product put out by Newsbank. It has an obituary index with access to the transcribed obituary for many newspapers across the US. Also, it has digitized images of the Akron Beacon Journal. It is a very promising subscription database. The index part will not be available until 2003. We will have access to the digitized Akron Beacon Journal within the next month.
