Pauline:

Will we be submitting our information? I know we've talked about author
visits.

Thanks,
Denise

Subject: [PRTALK:4511] Re: For Friends' Groups and Library Event
Planners

Mystery Writers America is developing a database of libraries interested
in
mystery writers as speakers. Writers who are in a library's local area
or
visiting it will be able to contact the library about the possibility of
a
program. No library will be obligated to sponsor a program with any
individual writer or group of writers. There is no cost to libraries to
be
listed in the database.

The project is in its infancy, but over 250 libraries have already
responded. An article about this project will soon appear in _Library
Journal_ . We have had an excellent response from members of FictionL,
but
we want to inform libraries on other listservs and discussion lists as
well,
and would appreciate any other help you can give us in letting libraries
in
California know about this opportunity. Would you please help us to
spread
the word?

Mystery Writers of America is the organization that awards the Edgars,
and
we've been representing mystery writers for more that 50 years. You can
learn more about us at http://www.mysterywriters.org

Here's the information we need for our database:

Name of library
Address
City
State
Zip Code
(if outside the US, Country:)
Contact person
Phone number with area code
E-mail address
Library URL (if available)
Interested in
  Any published writer
    Published writers - but not-self-published
Published writers (list any further limitations)

May books be sold at the event?

Further questions may be asked by writers who contact the library. Is
there
other brief special information you'd like to add to your listing?

Libraries are asked to please e-mail the requested information to this
address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Yours,
Jan Burke
