Thanks, Sharon Herfurth CTLS The Tocker Foundation has provided funds to the Texas Library Association to award stipends to persons in each of the 10 Texas Library Systems to attend TLA 2003 in Houston. The annual conference will be held April 1-4, 2003. Persons from libraries that serve a population of 12,000 or less qualify to apply for this grant. Staff directly involved in the day to day operation of the library are the primary focus of this grant. Stipends are for up to $1500.00 and funds can be used to cover the following conference expenses: --TLA Membership & Conference Registration --Preconference Workshop --Meal functions at the conference --Travel cost --Expenses (meals,cabs,etc) --Cost of replacement staff if needed Those selected to receive a stipend will be asked to volunteer 2 consecutive hours during the conference. Volunteer forms may be found on the TLA website http://www.txla.org/. It is also suggested that the stipend recipients plan to attend a preconference, at least one meal function and the Small Community Libraries Round Table functions.
