Dear Susan and CTLS Librarians,

We are The Muses, an up and coming Celtic band from Colorado. The Muses are
Tanya Brody Matthew Gurnsey and Lindsay Jensen - a trio with amazing vocal
harmonies and a myriad of instruments between them.

The Muses have several programs geared towards educational institutions
including:
"Songs of the Sea"; An hour full of sea shanties and sea lore. Focusing
primarily on the lives of sailors aboard the whaling and shipping vessels
but also drifting into the realms of legend and love.
"The Ballad as History"; The true history was written by the people. Many of
the best ballads tell the story more accurately (and poetically) than any
historian could ever contrive. We explore actual historical events and how
they were recorded in song.
"Legends and Fairy Tales"; A magical path leads us through the realm of
sirens, knights, witches and fair folk. Weaving tales of love, betrayal,
help and healing, even drunken rides through the haunted woods. Enchantment
awaits.

All of our programs are child and adult appropriate. We have found "Family
Programs" to be wildly successful. Please click on "Set List" for a full
listing of our programs.

We will be touring in Texas May 16th - 31st and would love to perform for
the Central Texas Library System. We are booked May 16th - 18th in Corpus
Christi and May 22nd in Dallas. We performed in February for the Hampton
Branch Library with great success.

Specializing in traditional and original Irish and Scottish music, our
performance brings a sense of fun to the stage while also engaging the
audience, creating a more personal experience for your guests. Our strong
passion for music and for each other makes our performance unforgettable and
our audiences rave about us. Recommendations like this follow every show-
"This is a group I would book again with no hesitation. Their
professionalism and talent is manifested in all they do."

Kathy Perschmann
Assistant Branch Manager
Chanhassen Library, MN

Biography

Tanya Brody, Matthew Gurnsey and new band member Lindsay Jensen all play a
plethora of exotic instruments ranging from bohdran & concertina to harp &
hammered dulcimer; psaltery, pennywhistles, and fiddle to name just a few.

The Muses add new life to old songs as well as adding original material to
the Celtic repertoire. Since the moment they chose to blend their voices in
song they began captivating the hearts of every audience from Hawaii to
Maine, Vancouver to Florida, weddings and pubs to concerts and main-stages
at Scottish Games and Celtic Festivals. The Muses perform with a ferocity
and a strength of heart that embodies the music they all love so dearly.

Seeking the return of traditional Celtic folk songs (and a stage overflowing
with instruments & vibrance), The Muses breathe new life into a music that
will never die. "Through our music you can feel the green shamrocks
underfoot, catch the aroma of a distant salt sea, and taste the highland
rain upon your lips."

"Overall it is the vocals and the crisp instrumentation of Brody and Gurnsey
that make them stand out and apart from others in the Celtic genre"
- Kevin McCarthy (Celtic and Folk Music Reviews)

"We received great feedback. It was the perfect family evening at the Chili
Public Library"
- Sandra E. Roether (Vice President, Friends of the Chili Public Library)

"They have a chemistry that sparks. They may play many instruments between
them but their voices are their greatest treasure"
- Antonio Santos (President , Scots-American Society of Brevard

"Besides the great entertainment The Muses offer, I appreciated the
involvement and the participation they allowed the audience. You feel like
they are entertaining you, not just being 'the entertainment'."
- Gil Clarke (President, Savannah Scottish Games)
