The Smithville genealogy group had an excellent presentation today by Jan S. Hart of Temple, TX.that was arranged by Carol Snyder. Jan has written three children's books about her grandmother's immigration to the U.S. from Russia and she has continued the story by writing about her mother's younger days. Jan's presentation started today with her taking a shawl and throwing it over her shoulders and then tied a small triangle of cloth on her head and she had an instant babushka. After she had her props in place, she started speaking as her grandmother complete with a Russian accent. What a transformation for her and what a wonderful story we heard. You can read more about her at www.janshart.com Jan has presented her story several times for children's groups and that is why I am sending you this email. I don't know who is charge of organizing the "acts" for the CTLS summer reading programs, but I ask that you forward this message to the appropriate person. I believe that Jan has an important story that could benefit the libararies of the CTLS. I am aware that this e-mail is probably too late for the 2010 summer reading programs. Hope to see you again soon in Smithville. Donna Cockrell CTLS Lay Rep. 361-865-2650
