Scroll down to see a grant opportunity for a Gardening with Kids
project. It's aimed at schools; perhaps your library could partner with
an offer of garden space (if you have some) and books on gardening.

Diagnosis for Equity <http://nnlm.gov/mcr/bhic/?p=9857>

http://www.cassaonline.com/index3/downloads/Front/DiagnosisforEquity_May
14_report.pdf
Over the past two years, the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians
(CASSA) has worked closely with community providers and other
stakeholders to build a strategy to promote health equity for South
Asian Communities in Ontario. This work included consultations with
close to 150 participants from over 60 organizations.

A Diagnosis for Equity combines the findings from these consultations
with a scan of existing research and key informant interviews to show
that South Asian communities in Ontario experience health disparities
that are symptoms of social inequity. These disparities include
disproportionately higher rates of illness, uneven access to care,
self-reported health and the cascading impacts of intersecting
determinants of health. This exploratory report indicates that these
disparities must be addressed through coordinated community-based action
that challenges the social determinants of health, like racialization
and poverty, and puts forth recommendations for action. Challenges
related to conducting ethno-racial health research are also explored in
detail.
