Modern banking was created by the Templars and taken over by the Dominicans; however, since money itself was considered a source of evil by the Church, it was quite convenient to turn it over to everyone's pariahs, the Jews. And, of course, once the Jews had become established as bankers, all of the good German aristocrats and farmers borrowed money from the Jews, using their land as collateral...and when, as inevitably happened, they defaulted on their loans, the Jewish bankers foreclosed, and found themselves with the same land they had been forbidden to own. By this time, of course, the Jews looked and sounded and behaved just like any other Germans, and finally in the 19th century the last of the anti-Semitic laws was repealed. But the descendants of the German nobility who had lost their land to the bankers because they did not and would not understand anything about finance, instead of blaming their ancestors, blamed the Jewish bankers. And so it goes... Now that explanation is highly oversimplified, of course. Most of the bankers in Germany were in fact "German"--although that word, until the very end of the 19th century, meant only a language shared by the inhabitants of over a hundred mini-states and a couple of big ones such as Prussia, Bavaria, and Austria. During the Second Reich, only a small proportion of the wealth actually belonged to Jews; of the major banks, most were owned and run by Christian Germans. The Jewish-owned institutions were highly visible, simply because they *were* Jewish-owned, and because they had friends in high places. (Bismarck relied on the Berlin banking family Bleichroeder, for example, to finance the Franco-Prussian War. But the Krupps, the great arms manufacturers, were *not* Jewish. Money, you see, does not discriminate.) One last comment: before you continue on this thread, read some of the standard histories of Germany, such as Hajo Holborn's three-volume work. Most of the time what gets posted about Germany and the Jews is pure, unadulterated nonsense, whose sources can be traced no further than sleazy propaganda tracts.
