But this is not the case among Jew haters. The 13th Tribe has been and
is being used as some kind of " proof " that modern Jews have no
connection to the Bible ( the Jewish national mythology ) or the state
in the middle east.

This is very true.

This is bullshit. This is what Gentiles and watered down Jews living
among Gentiles would like to believe.

Completely wrong on this one.

He discounts cultural revivals as reaction to rampant
assimilation. Even secular and atheist Jews are going back to their
cultural roots by practicing cultural rituals. This indicates a
need for tribal identity. Their genetic history is irrelevant even
if they knew what it was.

Actually, the opposite is happening. Except for the psychotic
religious
fanatics, Israel's Jews are becoming more secular and less identified.

This is dated thinking. It applied a generation ago. The legend of
chosenness is part of the Jewish national myth. It applies to those
who
have converted as well. There is no problem here except that
Christians
can't usurp that title while Jews continue to exist. Every nation has
a
national myth where they are the center of the universe or special in
some
way. Jews don't need to apologize for their 3000 year old mythology.

There are others however who have a lot to apologize for.
