One thing that is interesting to me is the statement that has been made
that the House of Lords is the highest authority in the United Kingdom
and if Pinochet loses there he cannot appeal. This is interesting in
that the fact that the House of Lords is hearing an appeal indicates
that the rule of royalty is still in place there. If this is so, why
could not Pinochet appeal to a higher authority which would be the
soveriegn. That, of course, would mean that Queen Elizabeth would have
to rule on the case. No matter what the ruling, it would shake things
up. Does anyone know why this could not be done?
