SINEAD O'CONNOR HEADS INTERNET SINGLE LINE-UP:

SINEAD O’CONNOR, THOMAS DOLBY and COLDCUT were among the eleven artists to
record the first ever single over the internet.

The cover version of BOB MARLEY’s ‘Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)’ was
recorded in an hour last night, by artists in studios all over the world.
The money raised from the single is to go to the children’s charity War
Child, which brings humanitarian aid to war zones the world over.

O’Connor made her contribution from a studio at the BBC Television Centre
in White City, West London. Thomas Dolby played keyboards in San Francisco
and Coldcut (aka Matt Black and Jonathan More) mixed and produced from
another BBC studio in Northwest London.

Elsewhere, vocalist LUCKY DUBE was in Johannesburg, drummer MIKE WILCOX was
in Australia, rhythm guitarist JAY GRIGGS was in New Orleans and RODNEY
ORPHEUS played synth in Hamburg.

The single, recorded using the latest on-line jamming software called
Rocket Network, was the subject of a one hour Tomorrow’s World special
screened on the BBC last night.

War Child was formed in February 1993 to help the innocent victims of war.
Since then fund-raising projects have included 1995’s Number one album
‘Help’ which raised money for Bosnia and featured contributions from PAUL
MCCARTNEY, PAUL WELLER, NOEL GALLAGHER and RADIOHEAD. Last year, PAVAROTTI
and a host of stars like CELINE DION and THE SPICE GIRLS performed at a
concert in Modena to raise money for Liberia.

O’Connor meanwhile was also in the news yesterday after she had given up
the custody of daughter Roisin. The two year old was handed over to her
father John Waters, a writer for The Irish Times.
