My earlier commenst were midleading and I apologise for that. In saying
that some black gold would enter the official market, what I meant to
suggest was simply that the shorts would be covered from black stocks.
I don't believe that the gold shorts intended to get caught, but it was a
wonderful game while it lasted. Now they're hanging in the wind and the
only way I see they can get off the hook is for their positions to be
covered -- probably by the US Treasury -- using non-official supplies. If
that does occur, my guess is that it will be in total secrecy and no impact
on the market will be seen or allowed. For all we know, it has already
taken place?
A great amount of the black gold is already repatriated in the sense that it
is safely tucked away in the USA, where it will remain, for all intents and
purposes, as "non-existent."
