Youngsters allegedly assaulted, forced to eat worms, bugs Tom Blackwell 2/11/03 "Ontario Amish leaders are pleading with the courts not to force their children to testify against a woman charged with a bizarre array of abuse offences. The Amish woman
allegedly made the youngsters eat worms and bugs, used a pellet gun on
them, choked them and sexually assaulted them. Leaders of her Amish
congregation near the southwestern Ontario town of Aylmer have cited
religious beliefs that discourage them from testifying against each
other, but prosecutors say they want the alleged victims to stand up in
court. The five children range in age from seven to 13."

and the medical use of hypnosis, Martin Theodore Orne, died February 11
of cancer. He was 72. Born in Vienna, Austria in 1927, Dr. Orne
received his M.D. degree from Tufts University Medical School in 1955,
with a Residency in Psychiatry at Massachusetts Mental Health Center,
and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Harvard University in 1958.

US names its choice to succeed Saddam

America is planning to install the leader of a London-based opposition group, the Iraqi National Congress, as the interim president of Iraq once Saddam Hussein is toppled. Ahmad Chalabi, 57, a Shi'ite exile who fled Iraq with his family when he was 12 and attended a British boarding school, is currently in Kurdish- controlled northern Iraq and may remain there until an invasion begins.
....State Department desk officers have described Mr Chalabi as corrupt, citing his 1992 conviction in absentia in Jordan for embezzlement and theft. Mr Chalabi, who has survived at least nine assassination attempts, says he was framed after his Petra Bank, the third largest in Jordan, collapsed.
