03/17/2003 (Washington-AP) -- The latest poll on war with Iraq shows a sliding scale of support in the United States. The poll, done for CNN-USA Today-Gallup, found 80% of Americans support invading Iraq if backed by a U.N. resolution. But that falls to 47% if the U.S. goes ahead without a resolution. After yesterday's summit in the Azores with Britain and Spain, the U.S. decided to withdraw a resolution on grounds that it was sure to fail. The poll of more than 1,000 adults was done Friday and Saturday, and has an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points. Forwarded for your information.
