THE "DUMBING DOWN" OF AMERICAN CONSERVATIVES
03/03/03 - (revised 3/19/03)
During the 1990s, American conservatives were valiant in efforts to preserve
American freedom by opposing Clinton administration corruption and demanding
accountability. Now faced with an administration whose corruption equals or
surpasses that of the Clinton administration many conservatives refuse to
acknowledge it. The culprits in much of this are conservative talk show
hosts and news outlets who cleverly suppress the truth from their audiences.
Ironically, these same hosts and outlets did little to support those of us
who led the Clinton impeachment movement. Suddenly, after one weekend in
1998 most of them began to speak eloquently about Clinton administration
corruption as though they all operated on the same queue. Some of them
detailed evidence from congressional investigations of criminal activity in
Arkansas, use of the FBI and IRS to persecute political adversaries and
treason and bribery with the Communist government. But Republican leaders
still turned the Clinton impeachment movement into a sex soap opera. Now,
these same talk show hosts and media outlets that exposed Clinton corruption
are intentionally covering-up Bush administration corruption. While many of
their listeners are keenly aware of how our children can be "dumbed" down by
federal education, some are not as aware that they can be victimized by
their own media choices. Here are some examples of false propaganda
emanating about Iraq and 9/11 from conservative talk shows and media outlets
nationwide.
Myth 1: Saddam Hussein is an uncooperative, imminent threat and a madman who
even gassed his own people.
To gain public support for the 1991 Gulf War, the George H.W. Bush
administration told Americans how Saddam Hussein's Iraqi soldiers stole
incubators for Iraq from the Al Adnan hospital in Kuwait city, as they
removed premature babies and "left them on the cold floor to die". Niyirah
al Sabah told Congress in November 1990 that she saw this happen when she
worked a volunteer in the maternity ward after Iraq invaded Kuwait on August
2, 1990. President George H.W. Bush mentioned this story in five speeches
while seven senators also referred to the story in speeches to support the
resolution Bush desired for use of force. All must have known that this
story was false.
Myra Ancog-Cooeke, a Filipino children's ward nurse at the hospital
explained: "That's funny, we've never seen her. She never worked here." She
was in the hospital throughout the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait with her
friend Freida Contrais-Naig, another Filipino nurse who actually slept with
babies in the incubator room, Niyirah al Sabah turned out to be the daughter
of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the U.S. The story originated after the Kuwaiti
government signed a multi-million dollar contract with the infamous Hill &
Knowlton public relations firm to solicit American public support for the
war. Amnesty International and Middle East Watch both determined that the
story was false.
To gain Saudi Arabian support for the 1991 Gulf War, the Bush administration
showed Saudi Arabia still classified satellite photographs that indicated
Saddam Hussein had amassed 265,000 troops and 1,500 tanks on the Saudion the
Saudi border. Jean Heller one of their investigative reporters who has been
nominated for a Pulitzer Prize five times, wrote the story that exposed this
lie.
On Thursday, December 18, 1998, Bill Clinton bombed Iraq and told Americans
that this was necessary because Iraq was out of compliance with U.N.
inspections. In reality, the bombing was a futile ploy used by the president
when he found he did not have enough Congressional opposition to avoid
impeachment on the day before the House vote. The bombing he instigates was
against the will of the U.N. Security Council and had no U.N. resolution
support. U.N. testimony in October 2002 about Iraqi cooperation showed that
Iraq hosted 276 inspection teams with 3,845 inspectors, 192 monitor teams
with 1,382 monitors, 94 specialized teams with 1,378 members as well as 80
delegations. These groups conducted [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Kuwait border. But the St. Petersburg Times bought two pictures from the
Soyuz Karta commercial satellite operation that clearly showed there were no
Iraqi troops 10,256 inspections, made 3,392 visits, monitored 595 sites,
installed 140 surveillance cameras, conducted 2359 hours of meetings,
collected 1,744,000 pages of documents and gathered 9 kilometers of
microfilm.
In 2002, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld claimed that Iraq is the single greatest
threat to America. This claim was contradicted by the current State Dept.
report on terrorism, which lists other countries such as Iran and Syria as
Far greater threats. For example, the State Dept. report considered Iran as
a far greater threat than Iraq because of its more advanced nuclear weapons
development, establishment of terrorist training camps and funding of Hamas
and Hezbollah. Iraq has not been found to participate in any such comparable
activities. The State Dept report is further confirmed by common sense. A
country that has absorbed tons of bombing attacks, endured 12 years of
sanctions and undergone 10,000 inspections could hardly be the most imminent
threat to America.
In 2002, the Bush administration told Americans that Saddam Hussein is a
maniac who gassed his own people. A Defense Intelligence Agency report
contradicts this claim as does Stephen Pelletiere, who headed an Army
investigation into Iraqi battle tactics and was the CIA senior political
analyst on Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war. In a January 31, 2003 N.Y. Times
editorial, Pelletiere stated that during March 1988, there was a battle at
Halabja between Iraq and Iran who was assisted by Kurdish rebels in an
attempt to take control of a key dam in the Kurdish area. Iran attacked with
a cyanide-based gas blood agent and Iraq defended against the attack with
mustard gas. The condition of the Kurds bodies indicated that the Iranian
cyanide based gas was the cause of their death. February 5, 2003 U.N.
testimony further corroborated this information and was not challenged.
Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) attempted to introduce the DIA report during
House International Relations Committee hearings and was denied the request
by chairman Henry Hyde.
Some contend that these U.S. military intelligence reports are false and
were designed to cover the fact that Iraq received satellite photography
assistance from the U.S. during the attack and obtained dozens of biological
agents from the U.S. during the 1980's. The Iraqi acquisition of U.S.
bioweapon agents is explained by documents entered into the September 2002
Congressional record of the Senate Armed Services Committee. These include a
May 1994 Senate Banking Committee report on dual-use exports to Iraq and a
1995 letter from David Satcher, former director of the Center of Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC). They explain that the CDC and American Type
Culture Collection sent Iraq many deadly pathogens that were used to start
its bioweapons program. The shipments included botulinum, anthrax, gas
gangrene and the West Nile virus. They began after Donald Rumsfeld visited
Saddam Hussein and Tarik Aziz in December of 1983. If the George W. Bush
administration did not lie about Saddam Hussein and the U.S. intelligence
reports were actually falsified, then the George H.W. Bush administration
protected him and covered up his atrocities.
Myth 2: Germans and French are cowards who won't support an invasion because
of Iraqi business interests.
Most countries on the U.N. Security Council have business with Iraq,
including the U.S., which is the largest purchaser of Iraqi oil. If the
French were concerned about their business interests in Iraq they would have
simply negotiated with the U.S. to retain the interests in exchange for
their U.N. vote and the Bush administration would have readily agreed.
There is one and only one major reason why the Bush and Blair
administrations have gotten little support from Germany, France, China,
Russia and nearly all countries in the U. N. Security Council. The Bush and
Blair administrations lied to the council. Every charge made by Colin Powell
about Iraq weapons of mass destructions was refuted by the U.N. weapons
inspectors. Not one charge made by Colin Powell against Iraq was
substantiated by any of the inspectors. All chemical and biological charges
were refuted and all charges about nuclear weapons were proven to be totally
false. Head U.N. nuclear weapons inspector, Mohamed Elbardei, testified to
the U.N. Security Council on March 7, 2003 that: ""there is no indication
that Iraq is attempting to import enriched uranium", "there is no indication
that Iraq is attempting to import tubes for enriched uranium development"
and "there is no indication of resumed nuclear activities or prohibited
activities". He confirmed that: "Iraq has been forthcoming" and stated point
blank that: "The nuclear weapons program is defunct".
Germany and France along with Russia and China have taken the obvious
position that is consistent with world opinion and the overwhelming opinion
of their citizens. They have consistently been unwilling to have the U.N.
Security Council used as an excuse to make war when its purpose is to
prevent it. Germany and France are also disgusted by the Bush
administration failure to prevent the 9/11 attacks. Germany and France along
with Russia and Egypt gave President George W. Bush specific foreign
intelligence briefings about the 9/11 attacks. The Egyptian and Russian
briefings came directly from their heads of state. Based on the briefing
content that has been revealed to date, George W. Bush would have known by
August 6, 2001 the exact date of the attack within a day.
An April 5, 2002 German intelligence document explains one of these
briefings. It was presented on June 14, 2002 at the Barnes Review conference
by author, Gregory Douglas, a proven expert at obtaining classified
documents. It begins: "On Monday, August 6 2001, at 17:50 [German]
Ambassador Ischinger personally notified the President of the United States
that information developed by the Bundesamt fur Verfassungsschutz [German
domestic secret service] as well as the BND [Bundesnachrichtendienst, German
foreign secret service] indicated clearly that an attack by a radical Arab
group partially based in Germany was to occur on 10-11 September, 2001. The
President was at that time in residence at his farm in Texas. Our Ambassador
was acting in direct response to instructions from Foreign Minister Fisher."
The document goes on to explain that the President was aware of the pending
attacks and had also been briefed by French intelligence. Citizens of France
and Germany have better access to a substantial amount of evidence that the
Bush administration had foreknowledge of 9-11.All of this further
corroborates why French and German officials and citizens have opposed the
plans of the Bush administration to invade Iraq.
Myth 3: Those who say that the Bush administration had foreknowledge
of 9/11 are nuts
On May 17th 2002, National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice stated
emphatically "I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people
would take an airplane and slam it into The World Trade Center... that they
would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a
missile.". Her contention, echoed by the highest levels of the Bush
administration, is provably false in many different ways.
First, a 1999 public CIA document entitled the Psychology and Sociology of
terrorism states that: "Suicide bombers belonging to AlQaeda's martyrdom
battalion could crash-land an aircraft packed with high explosives into the
Pentagon, CIA Headquarters, or the White House
". It was one of twelve precise forewarnings that were found by the Joint
Intelligence Committee investigation into the 9/11 attacks. The hearings
also revealed that the CIA was aware
2 of the hijackers, Khalid Almihdhar and Nawaf Alhazmi, who had connections
to the U.S.S. Cole bombing had entered the country and that the FBI actually
had an informant living with them in San Diego from 9/2000 - 12/2000.
Second, the National Reconnaissance Organization was actually conducting the
exact same hijacked plane scenario by simulating a crash into its office
buildings on the exact date of the real hijackings, 9/11/2001. Third, up
through September 12, 2001, the National Security Administration had spent
years tapping phone calls involving bin Laden, his associates and his
mother. In February 2001, 500 bin Laden related calls were entered as
evidence for the Manhattan trial of 4 African embassy bombers even though
none could actually be linked to those convicted of the bombings. If Osama
bin Laden were the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, the NSA would have total,
precise foreknowledge of the plans.
FBI headquarters "thwarted" and "obstructed" a 2001 investigation by Chicago
special agent, Robert Wright, who believed he linked money laundering by a
Saudi businessman to terrorism.
FBI headquarters also "Consistently, almost deliberately" "sabotaged" an
investigation Zacarias Moussaoui by the Minnesota field office as explained
in a letter by local office general counsel, Colleen Rowley, to Dir. Robert
Mueller. In September 2002 Congressional testimony, a FBI agent testified
that
FBI headquarters refused his plea to investigate hijackers Khalid Almihdhar
and Nawaf Alhazmi during August 2001. The agent who sabotaged the Minnesota
FBI investigation was later promoted to a field director in the Cleveland
FBI office, while the head of his division received a special award from
Dir. Mueller including 20% salary bonus.
In business and government, employees are promoted and awarded for carrying
out the will of their superiors. It is clear from these acts and the
unwillingness of the Bush administration to seriously investigate 9/11 that
the intent at highest levels of the FBI and Bush administration was to not
to prevent 9/11, but to facilitate it.
Myth 4: Osama bin Laden is the terrorist mastermind behind 9/11
Osama bin Laden is a long time operative of the CIA. He worked in
conjunction with CIA funded operations to repel the Soviet Union from
Afghanistan during the 1980s. The CIA indirectly formed AlQaeda there in the
late 1980s. In 1994, bin Laden attended at least one planning meeting
involving the Chechnyan rebels, CIA backed Afghan warriors as well as
Pakistani intelligence and Iranian intelligence. In 1994, he helped align
al-Muqatila with the British SAS against Muammar el-Qaddhafi in Libya, which
actually issued first arrest warrant for him in 1998. Most importantly, in
1999, his supporters helped arm, train and equip the KLA to overthrow the
Yugoslavian government. They worked directly with the British SAS, German
SS, the CIA and Canadian military soldiers. This western intelligence
involvement with the KLA has been corroborated by four separate sources in
four separate countries.
The Bushes have family business dealings with the bin Ladens dating to 1978
when Osama's oldest brother, Salem, hired James Bath, a close friend of
George W. Bush to acquire the Houston Gulf Airport for bin Laden and invest
$50,000 in George W. Bush's Arbusto Energy. In 1995, the bin Laden family
invested at least $2 million in the Carlyle Partners II fund, part of the
Carlyle Group, whose senior advisor is former President, George H.W. Bush.
The group includes former U.S. Defense Secretary Frank Carlucci, former
Secretary of State, Jim Baker and former White House budget director, Dick
Darman. Bush, who makes speeches for the Carlyle Group at about $100,000 a
speech, is a senior advisor for the Asian Partners fund. Baker is senior
counselor and Carlucci is the group chairman. All have visited bin Laden
family headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Bush has met the bin Laden
family twice apparently to secure investments for the Carlyle fund. All of
this was documented in a Sept. 28-29, 2001, Wall Street Journal article.
The Carlyle group has major interests in some of the largest U.S. defense
and aerospace contractors like Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics. It is
listed in Pentagon documents as a Defense Department contractor and its
overall private equity stake equates to the 14th largest. Shortly after
9/11/2001, the bin Ladens liquidated their publicly known Carlyle
investments when they were exposed as benefiting from the terrorist acts for
which Osama bin Laden was accused. The bin Ladens received roughly $1.3
million in completed investments and made a profit equating to nearly 40%
per year. Whenever Osama bin Laden issued rhetoric to stir Arabs into
committing terrorist acts against the U.S., the Bush and bin Laden families
profited through their U.S. military investments.
In December of 2001, the Pentagon released a "smoking gun" tape of Osama bin
Laden "confessing" to the 9/11 attacks. There was only one problem. The
person on the tape is 40 pounds heavier with a darker complexion and short
squared off facial features instead on long rounded ones. Although blurry
shots from the "smoking gun" video were released to make it more difficult
to see discrepancies, the dramatic difference is fairly obvious. The
side-by-side comparison of pictures from Al-Jazeera newscasts and the
"smoking gun" video as shown on Page 378 of the 2nd edition of my book, Our
Nation Betrayed are compelling. If you can accept picture files through

Myth 5: Those who question Bush administration motives for invading Iraq and
Afghanistan are anti-American
The Bush family has profited from war ever since 1913 when Samuel Bush,
grandfather of George H.W., served as a liaison to defense contractors
through his positions on the War Industries Board. His son, Prescott Bush,
father of George H.W., established much of the Bush wealth by managing or
directing companies for fellow Skull and Bones member Averill Harriman. Four
companies that were managed by Prescott Bush had their assets seized in 1942
under the Trading with the Enemy Act because they were funding and profiting
from the Nazi rise to power.
In August of 1942, the U. S. government ordered the seizure of all
Hamburg-Amerika property under the Trading with the Enemy Act. On Oct. 20,
1942, the U.S. government also took over Union Banking Corporation as part
of a seizure ordered against all Nazi banking operations in New York City.
The U.S. Alien Property Custodian issued Vesting Order 248 to seize its
stock shares, all of which were owned by "Bunny" Harriman, Prescott Bush,
three Nazi executives, and two other Bush associates. On Oct. 28, 1942, the
government issued orders seizing two Nazi front organizations run by the
bank: the Holland-American Trading Corporation and the Seamless Steel
Equipment Corporation. On Nov. 17, 1942, Nazi interests in the
Silesian-American Corporation, a mining and steel production conglomerate
were also seized under the Trading with the Enemy Act but the Nazis' U.S.
partners were left to continue business. All of these companies were in some
way managed or directed by Prescott Bush, who established elite status and
wealth for the Bush family long before his son ever entered the oil
business.
One of the more likely motives of the recent Afghan invasion can be found in
February 12, 1998 hearing entitled U.S. Interests In The Central Asian
Republics conducted by the House International Relations Subcommittee on
Asia and The Pacific. At the hearing, Chairman John Maresca of Unocal
testified about the vast natural riches of the former Soviet Republics and
the need for an Afghan pipeline to exploit them. He explained "
It's not going to be built until there is a single Afghan Government. That's
the simple answer". Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) followed up on the
new government by asking: "It's not just internationally recognized, but it
has to be accepted by the people of the country. Right?" Mr. Maresca's
reply: "It depends on who you mean by the people. I assume that no matter
what government is put in place, there will be some people who are opposed
to it."
If there is still any doubt about oil as one of the primary motives for
invading Afghanistan consider this: In his July 18, 2002 Senate Commerce
Committee testimony, Army Secretary, Thomas White, explained that one of his
former jobs was running the pipeline division for the notorious Enron
Corporation.
And what is the similarity between Afghanistan and Iraq? Iraq just happens
to have the second largest oil reserves in the world. It is not
anti-American to expose one lie after another that we have been told by
government officials and media outlets who have vested interests in
acquiring the riches of another country. But it is anti-American for a
president to send our sons and daughters to die in battle so that his
supporters can control Middle Eastern oil.
Myth 6: The Bush administration is working diligently to protect our
freedom.
The Bush administration has done little or nothing to investigate and
prosecute those who profited from 9/11. The stocks of United and American
were shorted 10 times the normal number of shares on the three trading days
before 9/11. The stocks of Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley Dean Whitter two
of the largest WTC tenants, were shorted 50 times more than the normal
number of shares during the same three day period. The Bush Securities and
Exchange Commission stated in September 2001 that they would investigate
these transactions. They have made no findings in over a year even though
they would have needed only weeks to identify the culpable profiteers.
The Bush administration has repeatedly thwarted attempts to establish an
independent committee investigation of 9/11. After September 2002
Congressional testimony from the families of the victims, the administration
briefly claimed to support the investigation but then opposed it when it was
attached as an amendment to the Homeland Security bill. They continued to
oppose it until Congress relented to demands such as requiring six of 10
committee members to concur with any subpoena and having George W. Bush
appoint the chairman of the committee. Bush quickly moved to ensure that the
independent investigation would not be independent by appointing Henry
Kissinger as chairman of the committee. Kissinger was forced to resign when
the families of the victims asked him to reveal his foreign business
clients.
In 2001, eight months after George W. Bush took office, our World Trade
Center was destroyed and the Pentagon was attacked. Nearly all facets of the
Bush administration had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks and some even
thwarted investigations that would have prevented 9/11 or exposed the
profiteers. Operatives from the Bush White House, Ashcroft Justice Dept and
office of House Speaker Dennis Hastert rewrote a H.R. 2975 bill overnight
after the House Judiciary Committee unanimously passed it. They presented it
for a vote on the floor without the House having the normal 3 days to review
the legislation. This legislation, H.R. 3162, eventually passed the Senate
also under the guise of fighting terrorism and became known as the Patriot
Act. Section 213 legalizes secret searches on demand. Section 216 allows
investigators to obtain communications without proper judicial review.
Section 215 authorizes the FBI to collect business records on anyone by
secret order and the recipient of the order cannot tell anyone it was
received. Section 208 defines anyone "who appears to be intended to coerce a
civilian population" as a terrorist. At least two citizens have been
arrested and held indefinitely without due process and the Justice Dept is
attempting to try citizens by military tribunal instead of the courts as
required by the U.S. Constitution. The recently passed Homeland Security Act
allows George W. Bush to appoint "storm troopers" who are loyalists to him
without regards to normal labor considerations adhered to by other Cabinet
departments. We now also know that the Bush, Ashcroft administration has
drafted a "Patriot Act II" bill that attempts to completely devastate what
is left of our U.S. Constitution. Finally, George W. Bush wants to invade
Iraq against the will of nearly all other countries in the world except
Britain.
Consider the similarities between America today and Germany before the
outbreak of World War II. On February 27, 1933, the Berlin Reichstag, site
of the German parliament, was destroyed by arson one month after Adolf
Hitler was appointed chancellor. Many historians now believe that Hitler was
at least aware of the plot and likely oversaw it. Nazi "storm troopers"
arrested 4,000 people that very night and over 40,000 opposition members
shortly thereafter to fight terrorism. The arson allowed the minority Nazi
party to pass the Ermachtigungsgesetz Enabling Act on March 24, 1933.That
act allowed Hitler to essentially negate the German parliament, establish
his own laws and seize control of the country. Hitler eventually started
World War II by invading Poland, Austria and Czechoslovakia for humanitarian
reasons against the will of most other countries and without just cause.
CONCLUSION:
There is little difference between what George W. Bush has done as President
and what Adolf Hitler and the Nazis did to gain total control of Germany.
Hitler could not have accomplished his objectives without the assistance of
the German news media in helping to dupe the German people, some of the most
intelligent on the face of the earth. George W. Bush receives similar
assistance from conservative talk show hosts and national media outlets that
intentionally keep facts from U.N. testimony, Congressional hearings and
U.S. government documents from their audiences. The first casualty of war is
truth and we no longer get it from these media representatives as well as
many other national news media conglomerates. As a result, many of the same
conservatives who fought valiantly to protect our freedom during the Clinton
administration now actually threaten our freedom as they unknowingly support
corrupt anti-American policies. Conservative talk show hosts nationwide know
full well what they are doing. They cleverly cut off callers who make
logical, intelligent and truthful points that they cannot refute. The only
remaining question to be answered is how these people can sleep at night.
