-Caveat Lector- What I find most puzzling about the "pro-war" camp is it's obtuse refusal to look at the REAMS of evidence that has been provided - REPEATEDLY, from many different sources on the right as well as the left. that the Bush excuses for this war are based on nothing but LIES! The anti-war sentiment is based solidly on a bedrock of FACTS that prove these lies, while the pro-war movement (such as it is) is based strictly on the propaganda that is spouted from the White House and regurgitated ad-nauseum by a compliant, mindless media. Their motto is "if Bush says it, it must be true, and I will NOT question 'my leader'".
When confronted with these FACTS, they refuse to even look at them, preferring instead to attack those who try to shed some light on the situation and dismiss them as "conspiracy theorists". They accuse anti-war folks of "emotionalism" while displaying it themselves more often than the anti-war camp. At least we have plenty of proof to back our claims. Where's theirs? The world is loaded with vicious dictators, many even worse than Saddam ever could have dreamed of being, yet we, in our infinite "wisdom" have decided to target him (and an entire population of innocent people along with him), for what purpose? The prevailing claim given to sell this war is that it is to protect Americans. Yet even top officials outside of Bush's closest advisors have admitted PUBLICLY that this war will make us MORE vulnerable, not less. But the pro-war advocates prefer to ignore that, choosing instead to jump on the cheerleading bandwagon for the "exciting" 24/7 action-adventure called "Shock and Awe". It would sure be a different tune they'd be singing if that "Shock and Awe" were directed at us instead of "them". Ultimately, we will all pay the price for this immoral war, but believe me, Bush and his cronies could give a damn. They're too busy riding high on their bloody powertrip. goldi klewis wrote: > -Caveat Lector- > > On 22 Mar 2003 at 7:39, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > >From National Review -- > http://www.nationalreview.com/dreher/dreher032103.asp > > Ex-Friends > Casualties of this war. > by Rod Dreher > > We're already moving toward Baghdad in our war against Iraq, one I > believe with all my heart is just and necessary. I'd sure like to know what this "heartfelt belief" is based on. www.ctrl.org DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER ========== CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list.
