Bushianity:
Christianity At The Pinnacle

By: Al Cronkrite

Most Christians act as if God created the world and placed them in it so that He could
abdicate His throne, put each of His created creatures onto an individual throne, make
each one a God, and serve each one individually. Sort of like the General serving
under the army rather than the army serving under the General.

It is obvious that a chain of command so ordered would produce nothing but chaos and
that is exactly what American Christians are producing.

Our President, George W. Bush, is an excellent example. Apparently saved from a
debilitating addiction, he acknowledges Jesus, The Christ, as his personal Savior, He
prays and reads the Bible. He has fellowshipped with Christian leaders and impressed
them with the caliber of his devotional life.

Nevertheless, William Norman Grigg writes in the "New American", ".....while President
Bush's private conduct seems to reflect his Christian beliefs, his political conduct
reflects a belief in what has been called the 'civil religion' - that is, the public
worship of the state as God. Leftist historian Arnold Toynbee describes that religion
as 'the fanatical worship of collective human power' - every totalitarian state's
official creed."

He goes on to quote Bush's line from his State of The Union Address, "There's power,
wonder working power, in the goodness and idealism and faith of the American people".

While it is a blessing to have a leader whose proclivities do not include sodomy in
the Oval Office, it is also apparent that the shadow government must seek presidents
without moral rectitude.

Conversion to Christ and the mechanics of devoted behavior do not translate into
Christian maturity. America is overflowing with Christians who, like the lady at the
well, have been forgiven of their infractions but who have not heeded the Saviors
advice to "go and sin no more".

For the majority of Evangelical Christians who make up the preponderance of God's
people in America, sin has no real meaning. Often is it nebulously characterized as
"separation from God". The result of this confusion is individual Christian behavior
often worse than their secular counterparts.

I belabor the legal Christian perspective because barring consensus on this issue; we
are, in my opinion, doomed to continue chaotic diversity, anarchy of the mind, and the
plunge toward tyranny on which we have for some time been embarked.

Freedom of the sort sought by leftists is a utopian dream. Only societies in their
death throws can continence such behavior. Individual freedom is at its zenith when
the Laws God gave to Moses are the standard by which a society is governed. Real
freedom is impossible by any other criterion.

Witnessing the behavior of our government which is being lead by at least two high
profile Christians, President, George W. Bush and Attorney General, John Ashcroft,
provides a lesson in the efficacy of the pietistic Religion that has gripped American
Christians.

Manipulated by malignant advisors, willingly participating in a system designed to
steal the wealth of American citizens, industrially disemboweling the Nation and
putting into place the framework for a police state, these are the programs being
pursued by our leaders who claim to follow Christ.

As our Christian President requests over $70 billion to finance a needless war in
Iraq, America's citizens are slowly being relieved of their wealth by the inexorable
progress of unreported inflation coupled with an almost complete lack of investment
opportunity. Unreported inflation far outpaces interest rates and the stock market has
already robbed much of our savings.

Illegal aliens who are afforded more opportunity than regular citizens are flooding
across our borders. The government has lied to us about the growth of high tech jobs
and is now allowing citizens of other nations to deflate the wages of native Americans
with improper entry into our economy.

The Christian European culture, which was the sinew of our social order, has been
systematically obliterated by humanistic hubris in high places.

Most of the protests against the war in Iraq miss the most important error. In spite
of the fact that none of the many wars in which our Nation has been involved has been
entirely legitimate, until now, there has always been a righteous element. In Iraq we
are fighting against a sovereign Nation that is not at the present time accosting
anyone. It appears to be a war being conducted by an imperialistic nation. The
righteousness, which we inherited from our ancestors, has been irredeemably besmirched.

Unfortunately, our leaders in Washington, D.C. are exhibiting a Christian character
the same as that displayed by their civilian counterparts. In spite of God's vehement
admonition that He desires obedience rather than sacrifice, American Christians
persist in treating Him like a servant and seeking, through most every avenue short of
obedience, to be a blessing to Him on their terms rather than His.

We, and those that lead us, would do well to assess our puerile condition, come to
grips with the Legal Standard our Christian God repeatedly demands, and prepare to
grow to maturity.

Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is impossible that a nation of infidels or
idolaters should be a nation of free men. It is when a people forget God that tyrants
forge their chains.
