That is she pleads guilty of submitting falsified reports, that are collected into a "single count".
Maybe this solves the riddle of only one year? Meaning?- as soon as she is declared guilty all the people convicted on her evidence can sue again?- or can't since everything is bundled into this "one count"? and thus finished forever?
Also since we have a different system over here.German forensic institutions are connected and part of university, that is the medical branch. We can recognize that more and more of them are closed down. Not such a good tendency.
So the first thing that surprised me in the article you sent, is:I so far had the impression the whole forensic field in the U.S. is private, now I realized DNA analyses are still in the handes of the FBI?
Could this case be an argument for the final outsourcing of DNA analyses too?
Barbara
more reliable, but only rich defendants like OJ Simpson
or defendants who have cases of interest to high profile
defenders(perhaps financed to advertise DNA testing labs!)
are able to afford private DNA testing and experts to testify.
The Whitehurst case blew the cover on FBI lab perjury
being so common.
The problem is a closed system watching over itself. The
dynamics are determined by the rules which are deliberately
formulated to thwart open-ness and accountability and
whistleblowing and a truth oriented merit basis rather
than a crony basis for job opportunity and security.
In Virginia there were two women who fell off horses and
both died, an accident as determined by not questioning
nearby witnesses and by flying the bodies to a coroner in
a different state. Coincidentally the same coroner was flown
to Texas to pronounce an Enron coverup death an accident.
At the Vince Foster autopsy, the palate area had already
been removed before the autopsy. In Arkansas, two boys
who witnessed a CIA drug drop were found by a coroner
to have had their heads chewed off by their small dog
trained to assist suicide. A year ago a journalist in
Arkansas committed suicide by shooting himself twice
in the head.
Rewarding incompetent DNA experts and coroners is highly
profitable, as a subset of "problems and solutions from the same
people" i.e. 911 and drug lords owning private US prisons. A
fox guarding a hen coop is well fed. The beheaders of Nick
Berg were too well fed and white to be alqaeda.
