In the past, secrecy was so high that some government officials were reticent to even admit that these agencies existed. In the new reality of the 21st century, Israel's highly clandestine foreign intelligence service, Mossad, is accepting job applications from its website. The Mossad employs both Israelis and foreigners. The Mossad isn't the only intelligence service to use online recruiting; Britain's MI5 is making extensive use of the Web both to inform and to hire, although Britain's foreign intelligence agency, MI6, still has no official website. The CIA has for years been accepting applications for employment, and now uses Jennifer Garner to recruit for the agency. For a number of reasons the intelligence agencies are having an increasingly difficult time recruiting employees. Government remuneration is modest compared to corporate salaries; moreover, much of the work done at these agencies is tedious, and can't be discussed with family or friends.
