"President Bush plans to unveil next month a sweeping mental health initiative that recommends screening for every citizen and promotes the use of expensive antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs favored by supporters of the administration. â

"The initiative began with Bushâs launch in April 2002 of the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, which conducted a âcomprehensive study of the United States mental health service delivery system.â"

EVERY AMERICAN, YOUNG AND OLD, TO BE MENTALLY EVALUATED BY BIG BROTHER

"The panel found that âdespite their prevalence, mental disorders often go undiagnosedâ and recommended comprehensive mental health screening for âconsumers of all ages,â including preschool children. â"

GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS WOULD SCREEN 58 MILLION EDUCATION INMATES

"Schools, the panel concluded, are in a âkey positionâ to screen the 52 million students and 6 million adults who work at the schools.

"The commission recommended that the screening be linked with âtreatment and supports,â including âstate-of-the-art treatmentsâ using âspecific medications for specific conditions.â "

IT STARTED IN TEXAS

"The Texas Medication Algorithm Project, or TMAP, was held up by the panel as a âmodelâ medication treatment plan that âillustrates an evidence-based practice that results in better consumer outcomes.â

"The TMAP â started in 1995 as an alliance of individuals from the pharmaceutical industry, the University of Texas and the mental health and corrections systems of Texas â also was praised by the American Psychiatric Association, which called for increased funding to implement the overall plan." "You may not have heard of the American Community Survey, but you will. The national census, which historically is taken every ten years, has expanded to quench the federal bureaucracyâs ever-growing thirst to govern every aspect of American life. The new survey, unlike the traditional census, is taken each and every year at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars. And itâs not brief. The census, like so many federal policies and programs, inflames racism by encouraging Americans to see themselves as members of racial groups fighting each other for a share of the federal pie. â"

THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE CENSUS

"Article I makes it clear that the census should be taken every ten years for the sole purpose of congressional redistricting (and apportionment of taxes, prior to the disastrous 16th amendment). This means a simple count of the number of people living in a given area, so that numerically equal congressional districts can be maintained. The founders never authorized the federal government to continuously survey the American people.

"More importantly, they never envisioned a nation where the people would roll over and submit to every government demand. The American Community Survey is patently offensive to all Americans who still embody that fundamental American virtue, namely a healthy mistrust of government.
