During WWII the Croatian fascists, the Ustashi, had an initiation ceremony
that involved cutting a Serb foetus from its mother's womb. They also
amused themselves by holding throat slitting contests. They would slit
Serb throats wholesale, with prizes for the most throats slit. One guy
(name slips my mind) slit 1500 throats in a single night. Observers bet on
the outcome. Ustashi paramilitaries also made a practice of surrounding
Serb villages, herding Serbs into the local church, nailing the door shut
and setting the building alight.
