-Caveat Lector- NOSTRADAMUS SEES TROUBLE AHEAD ============================== (CNNS, 04/28/99) -- In Century X, quatrains 9-10, reputed seer Nostradamus describes a future tyrant. He writes, in part, as follows: From an infamous woman shall be born a sovereign Prince, His surname shall be from breeches, Born after his father's death, Never a King was worse in his province. Endeavor of murder, enormous adulteries, A great enemy of all humanity... The notes included in The Millennium Edition of Nostradamus explain that these quatrains describe "an infamous tyrant." Who might this person be, "born after his father's death" and associated with "enormous adulteries." Could Nostradamus be speaking of Bill Clinton? Willie Breytenbach, a professor of political science at the University of Stellenbosch, after analyzing various Nostradamus quatrains, states that World War III will start in the Balkans. Professor Breytenbach, based on his analysis, is specific as to when it will start and how long it will last: it will begin, he says, this July; it will last seven months. [1] Nostradamus "is clear it will start before the end of the century during the period of Cancer which is between June 22 and July 23, and in a triangle bordered by Greece, Italy and Turkey, which is the Balkans," says Breytenbach. [2] The Reuters article which reports on the professor's analysis of Nostradamus unfortunately does not cite which quatrains that analysis is based upon. This news service therefore delved on its own into the Nostradamian text to see what it could find. The legendary seer is often vague on specifics. His quatrains are often like an "ink blot," in which the reader can see what he wishes to see. But at times Nostradamus is quite specific, such as in the following quatrain: In the year 1999 and seven months, From the skies shall come an alarmingly powerful king, To raise again *le grand Roy d'Angolmois*, Before and after, Mars shall reign at will. [3] "Mars" (above) refers to the god of war. In astrology, the planet Mars also denotes war. In a report by this news service, dated Jan. 29, 1999, we quoted a source, an astrologer, who had this to say: Mars is the planet of war, and it went direct into Scorpio on Tues. January 26th, at 3:59 am. GMT. 0 degrees lat. and 0 longitude. It doesn't leave Scorpio until it goes retrograde on March 18th, at 8:40 am. GMT. Being the planet of war, it will increase armed conflicts, and be the birth place of coups. [4] Our astrologer source was worried about the effect of Mars going retrograde on March 18th: "If it is going direct when trouble is conceived, retrograde is where it explodes." She added that she "shuddered to think" what might happen. [5] Our astrologer source was not far off in her prediction, and was even, arguably, right on-target. She foresaw trouble exploding on March 18th. Trouble *did* explode, in the Balkans, on March 24th, when the NATO began bombing there. But the gears for that bombing may have been set in motion on or around March 18th. In the CNNS report on this astrologer's predictions (op. cit.) we also included something else she foresaw: "A further portent occurs on August 16th through the 18th, an 'astrological alignment we haven't seen in 4,000 years or so. It is the Grand Cross alignment,' says our source." [6] A CNNS reader has contacted this news service, warning of a sinister "Gog and Magog" scenario now unfolding in the Balkans, based on his understanding of Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39, in the Bible. As already alluded, there is sometimes a sense of "ink blot" in the various predictions, with people bringing their own preconceptions to what they are studying.
