“This is an ongoing investigation, so we don’t have any comments,” the spokeswoman said.
Charles Lynch, director of DISA’s IP version 6 transition program, was arrested March 8 and indicted in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia the next day on one count of possessing child pornography.
According to a statement by the DOD Inspector General’s Office, court documents alleged that Lynch had been operating a peer-to-peer file-sharing program on a computer in his office at DISA. Agents confiscated several computers and more than 1,000 CDs from Lynch’s office.
Lynch, 44, is on leave without pay from DISA.
The investigation is being conducted by the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the FBI and the DISA OIG. Joseph McMillan, special agent in charge of the DCIS Mid-Atlantic Field Office, would not elaborate on why the charge was dismissed. “It’s our policy neither to deny nor confirm the existence of an ongoing criminal investigation,” McMillan said.
In apparently unrelated cases, a Homeland Security Department official was arrested earlier this week for soliciting sex with a minor.And last week, federal agents seized computer equipment from the desk of a NASA official, based on information developed during a U.S. Postal Inspection Service undercover investigation of Internet trafficking in child pornography.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The original version of this story, posted April 6, reported Lynch’s arrest and indictment, but did not report that the charge had been dismissed. Using the alias "Jim Saron," Robinson allegedly responded to six undercover agents' inquiries about trading digital child pornography files, according to the search warrant affidavit by Special Agent Paul R. Danley.
Agents seized a laptop, a hard drive and other materials from the office of NASA program executive James Robinson, The Smoking Gun reports.
Robinson, 42, was contacted last year by undercover postal agents after an online operation pointed to Robinson as a purveyor of illegal images. According to The Smoking Gun, he wrote to undercover agents citing his pornography desires as "probably priority right now would be boy-on-boy or boy-with-Man, and girl-on-girl. But really, anything is of interest."
Using the alias "Jim Saron," Robinson allegedly responded to six undercover agents' inquiries about trading digital child pornography files, according to the search warrant affidavit by Special Agent Paul R. Danley.
In some of the e-mail exchanges that Danley details in the court document, Robinson (aka "Saron") writes that he obtained his illegal files through popular download program Kazaa or various usergroups online.
To locate Robinson through his alias, agents contacted Yahoo, but it is unclear whether the company gave information that led to Robinson. An internal NASA search located the IP address from which nude photos of children had been viewed. It pointed Robinson, court documents show.
Danley also writes that Robinson regularly used a Yahoo e-mail address with his alter-ego name and browsed a Web site cryptically called alt.chxld.mxlexter.com.
Some of the Internet trolling and illicit file sending was done from Robinson's NASA computer, Danley said. NASA, a government agency, is funded by taxpayer dollars.
Robinson, a program executive with NASA's In-Space Propulsion Technology Center, appears to have also used his personal computer for similar activity.
Although the investigation reportedly began last year, Robinson looked at the illegal electronic images as recently as January, the court records show.-------------------------Republican Dad gets son off in AZ sex case

And, no penalty despite the parents outrage.
One may ask how this could happen. It is really quite simple. The 19 year old, Ryan Bennett, is none other than the son of Arizona's Senate President, Ken Bennett, a Republican who is part of the effort to ban equal rights for same-sex couples in the state, viewing same-sex relationships as immoral...After his son's admission, Bennett wrote a letter to the D.A. handling the case informing her that his son could not rightfully serve time in jail, because he is preparing to leave the country on a mission -- to teach the word of Christ to youth around the world ..."
