At a public appearance [earlier in the year], Bush’s point man in the Office of National Intelligence was asked if the NSA has been wiretapping Bush’s political enemies. Hayden dodged the question. The questioner repeated, "I asked you, are you targeting us, and people who politically oppose the Bush administration? Not a fishing [expedition], but are you specifically targeting political opponents of the Bush administration?" Hayden just stared at the questioner ... and after a silence called on a different questioner.
