Despite the defense shooting holes in the prosecution's case that
African-American Cadet Webster Smith "raped" and "assaulted" several
white women at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., the
Houston, Texas man was found guilty of several lesser charges which
will surely result in him being booted out of the military. He could
get up to 13 years in prison, but courtroom observors tell
MilitaryCorruption.com that is "very unlikely."
The hulking cadet was acquitted of the most serious charge - rape -
but found guilty of "indecent assault, extortion. sodomy, failure to
obey an order, and absent without leave."
It took the jury just eight hours to come back with the verdict.
Webster was expressionless as the result was read, but broke down in
tears after leaving the courtroom. So did several family members who
crowded around the soon-to-be ex-cadet.

Let's switch things around for a moment. How about this? A female
cadet at the Coast Guard Academy is accused of "raping" and
"assaulting" a minority-member male at the New London, Conn service
school? We know, highly unlikely. But stay with us for a few
paragraphs. Please. We'll get to our point, soon enough.
The male "victim" can't remember much. He was admittedly drunk
because he downed two bottles of wine and "blacked out." At least
that's what he says. And the accuser admits under cross-examination
that he did go out on a date with his attacker the very next night.
In fact, he admits they had sex again, after the so-called rape. In
addition, he acknowledges that he posed for nude pictures taken by
another female "attacker." The poor, helpless cadet even testified
he gave his "attacker" back rubs, and she him. Followed by mutual
oral sex. [That's what the military likes to call, hold on to your
hats, gang, "sodomy." Let's bring down the fire and brimstone, now!

A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the
back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near the Arizona
Air Force base wrote his local paper complaining about a group of
F-16s that "disturbed" his/her day at the mall. When that
individual read the response from Lt. Col. Scott Pleus, commander of
the 63rd Fighter Squadron, it must have stung quite a bit. At least
we hope it did.
"Here's the 'question of the day' for Luke Air Force Base," the
whining civilian wrote. "Whom do we thank for the morning air show?
Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 a.m., a tight formation of four
F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over
Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do
the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they
trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns' early-bird special? Any
response would be appreciated."

A political general who warmed a chair most of his non-combat career,
has been rewarded by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Maj. Gen.
Richard Natonski, who spent much of his 30 years in uniform safely
behind a desk, (he was 1st Marine Division commander for a while in
Iraq) has been nominated for promotion to lieutenant general in the
wake of his "scapegoating" one of his company commanders who had no
role in the so-called Haditha "massacre."
Capt. James Kimber saw his military career destroyed by the armchair
general, when Natonski relieved the 33 year-old combat vet of his
command. So much for "due process of law." Natonski decided to chop
heads to help his boss at the Pentagon. He needed to make it look
like the Marine Corps "leadership" was "cracking down" on alleged
civilian casualties in Iraq. So Kimber got caught up in the
"political correctness" hysteria, even though he and his men were
miles away from the scene when the Haditha killings allegedly took
place.
It used to be Gen. Peter Pace, Rumsfeld's obedient "yes-man" and
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was the most reviled Marine in
e-mails sent to us from members of the Corps around the world. Now,
Pace can move over and make room for Natonski. Unlike Pace, the soon
to be three-star general has no Purple Heart medal or Silver Star,
but he does have a lot of other pretty, multi-colored ribbons on his
chest to show he has been a good staff officer all these years.

Just two weeks before Col. Drew Jeter was set to transfer to a new
position at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, the 44 year-old commander
of the 95th Air Base Wing at Edwards AFB Calif. was fired.
Tight-lipped officials will only say the 1984 graduate of the
University of Florida at Gainsville was relieved "for cause."
Maj. Gen. Curtis Bedke, Air Force Flight Test Center commander,
"acted immediately upon receiving information that prompted this
investigation," a base spokesperson said. "Col. Jeter was relieved
based upon Gen. Bedke's lack of confidence in the colonel's ability
to properly execute the responsibilities of his command."

This has been a bad summer for the U.S. Air Force, especially at
bases in Florida and Texas.
We already broke the story two months ago of the Eglin AFB captain
who is alleged to have used "knockout drops" to seduce and sodomize a
number of young airmen who were stupid enough to be caught alone with
him in the first place.
Our sources at Hurlburt Field tell us a young airman that had been
"abused" went to OSI there and "blew the whistle" on the alleged
attacker, who turned out to be the chief of patient administration at
Eglin's base hospital.

"The primary word was fear," a Congressional source tells
MilitaryCorruption.com. "Few senators wanted to make an enemy of the
general - President George Bush's choice to be the next director of
the Central Intelligence Agency.
"There was little chance to stop the nomination anyway. A lot was at
risk for needlessly antagonizing such a powerful man. When he took

When the votes were counted, only 15 senators dared to go against the
general. Hillary Clinton, re-inventing herself as a "moderate" in
preparation for a run for President in 2008, was not one of them. If
any senator distinguished themself by refusing to "rubber stamp" the
general, it was Russ Feingold of Wisconsin. If Hayden turns out to
be half as bad as some observers fear, Feingold will have been right.

An Air National Guard captain and his master sergeant loadmaster are
facing long stretches in prison, following their arrest and guilty
plea in a pill-smuggling scheme that was run out of Europe.
Capt. Franklin Rodriguez, 36, a C-5A "Galaxy" cargo plane pilot, and
his loadmaster, M/Sgt. John Fong, 37, admitted in U.S. District Court
in Manhattan that they tried to bring into the United States 300,000
"Ecstasy" pills worth more than $12 million.
For their role in the plot and previous drug-smuggling activities,
the duo could face up to 20 years behind bars. Sentencing in the
case is scheduled for August 25.

You read it here first. In our 2005 feature story on then-"Capt.
Amerika" (since promoted to major), we told you of former Air Force
Maj. Kevin Furlong's complaint his young, sexy wife had affairs with

After seven years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, Navy Petty
Officer 1st Class Todd Forbes has been acquitted by a court-martial
panel in Kentucky and is now a free man.
The 44 year-old former Navy recruiter had been charged in 1998 with
raping three female "delayed-entry" recruits, not far from the
London, Ky. courthouse where he finally obtained justice.
Forbes was acquitted of two of the charges, but was found "guilty" of
the third, and sentenced to 15 years at the U.S. Disciplinary
Barracks at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

It's been ten years now since once-gregarious Capt. Ernie Blanchard
committed suicide in the backyard of his Virginia home.
The former top spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard killed himself in
desperation, fearing his 30-year service career would end in
disgrace, with a court-martial and loss of pension.
Blanchard wasn't charged with rape or sodomy or any of the sex crimes
that are routinely reported in today's politically-correct military.
What he was "guilty" of was poor judgement and extreme insensitivity

The handwriting is on the wall. All we need now is his signature on
a resignation letter. When will megalomaniacal Defense Secretary
Donald Rumsfeld do us all a public service by giving up the reins of
power? At 73, the crotchety and needlessly abusive Rumsfeld may be
getting senile and needs to go into retirement. The sooner, the better.
A long-overdue Rumsfeld resignation [see our related stories box at
end of this article] would immediately improve morale throughout the
armed forces, especiallly in Iraq, where an Army Times survery
recently showed a majority of our troops there have little confidence
in Rummie's "leadership" abilities.
This arrogant, obnoxious "my way or the highway" defense chief won't
admit making any mistakes and continuing to make more, while the war
in Iraq spirals into a Vietnam-like quagmire. Rumsfeld's military
miscalculations, micro-managing ways, and refusal to heed good advice
from his commanders in the field has only added to a growing casualty
list.

The Camp Pendleton, Calif. officer, Capt. Richard Toschiaddi, was
taken into custody by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs as

LTCDR Bret Allen Berry was arrested at his Pensacola, Fla. home after
an undercover agent reported to officials the officer was allegedly

A 32 year-old airman from Sonora, Calif. who was assigned TDY to
Hurlburt Field, Fla. says he was sexually assaulted by an Air Force
officer he encountered at a trendy Ft. Walton Beach bar.
The unidentified victim said he met his alleged attacker at the
popular Helen Bach Bar on Okaloosa Island, then was lured to the
captain's nearby home at Bluefish Drive.
The enlisted man told the OSI he'd been incapacitated by something
put in his drink during a party at the residence and woke up later to
discover he had been sodomized. Medics took pictures of his injuries
and he was treated and released. The airman has now left the area
and returned to his home base in California.

At age 59, Army Reserve COL Nikki McCarty was looking forward to
retiring on a fat pension and enjoying life. Now, what he has ahead
of him is three years in prison and the loss of all pay and benefits.
The former commander of Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo was convicted at
court-martial of sexually harassing eight women, ranging in rank from
sergeant to lieutenant colonel. "I made a mistake, and I'm truly
sorry for that," he pleaded. The crude colonel stupidly thought his
rank would inoculate him against any punishment for grabbing the
women and trying to kiss them.
Prosecutor CPT Javier Rivera said McCarty committed his heinous
crimes between February and May of 2005. The JAG shocked courtroom
observers when he revealed that McCarty had the temerity to make
inappropriate comments to the female soldiers, such as: "You look hot
in that uniform."

"Honey, I can't wait for you to get home," cooed Navy PO1 Jim
Praefke's wife into the telephone as the veteran petty officer called
Oak Harbor, Wash. from a refueling stop enroute back to the United
States after seven hard months of duty in Afghanistan. "Here's the

Tracy Shue, who became a millionairess after her husband's mysterious
death on a Texas highway April 16, 2003, has finally returned $12,000
she took from Col. Philip Shue's elderly parents more than two years
ago.
The wealthy widow had two life insurance policies totaling $1.5
million on her Air Force doctor husband, and also received $250,000
from his SGLI (Serviceman's Group Life Insurance). In addition to
that large "payout," the petite former Air Force nurse got a generous
death gratuity (since Col. Shue died on active duty) and receives a
sizeable DIC (Indemnity Compensation) check every month.
When you add in her retirement check as a lieutenant colonel - more
than 50% of base pay - and her 80% "disability" pension ("tell that
to the Marines" coming back from Iraq with a toe or hand shot off),
and you can't help wonder why Tracy felt it necessary to take $12,000
from her late husband's 90 year-old parents, who live on a fixed
income in a modest home in Ohio.

It's tough enough for recruiters to get young men and women to
enlist. It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to figure out you might
may well end up in Iraq. But when some idiotic officer with a
mindless, bureaucartic decision embarrasses the Army and abuses a
wounded warrior, it's time to give that dummy a written reprimand.
Take the case of seriously-wounded 1LT William "Eddie" Rebrook IV,
whose arm was so torn up by shrapnel, the officer had to be medically-
discharged. But not before a moronic battlion commander refused to
sign a "waiver" for the lieutenant's armored vest, soaked in blood
and destroyed as a "bio-hazard."
A dim-witted supply clerk had failed to note the vest's disposal, so
Rebrook was "dunned" $632 for the bloody body armor and other gear
left behind during combat. And the paper-pushing light colonel (the
Army won't tell us his name) demanded the wounded officer produce
"witness statements" to verify the vest had actually been burned!
That, or "pay up."

One doesn't have to wonder what would've happened to an NCO or junior
officer if they'd been nabbed for harrassing and mistreating female
subordinates like former Brig. Gen. Richard S. Hassan did.
Although the above-mentioned brass hat goes out the door a colonel,
he gets to keep his retirement - albeit at one lower grade - and,
aside from a $2,000 fine and letter of reprimand, received no
further punitive action. He walks off into the sunset without having
done one day in the brig.
Maybe Hassan was a weirdo who had a thing for female "tootsies," but
he should have gotten the boot anyway after being caught sending his
female workers sexualy-explicit e-mails.

Things are sometimes not at all what they seem, the old saying goes.
And the so-called "suicide" of highly-respected, retired Army Gen.
Bernardo Negrete has many heads shaking as friends who knew him best
dispute the "official version" of his unexpected death.
MilitaryCorruption.com has already reported the general's widow,
Victoria, told cops and others three different versions of what
happened in her San Antonio home the night of Sept. 16, 2005. In
one, the general supposedly blasted himself in a drunken stupor; a
second version had the wife sleeping beside her hubby and "hearing" a
gunshot "go off" in the dark; and the third story maintained the
general - known for being extra careful with firearms -
"accidentally" shot himself in the head as he prepared to go on a
hunting trip in the morning. Right.
We pointed out not one but two handguns were found in the bedroom
where the shooting took place. Two spent cartridges, one from each
weapon were also there. And one of the shell casings was discovered
secreted in a nearby wastebasket. Hmmmmmm. Had both weapons been
fired? Were they each tested for gunpowder residue? San Antonio
cops aren't saying, especially to us.

It's been rough sailing lately for the Navy in the wake of several
embarrassing incidents.
An Annapolis professor's admittedly stupid and crude remarks made
during a field trip to Norfolk, Va. has now led to a court martial,
even after foul-mouthed Lt. Bryan Black apologized to a female
midshipman for his lapse in judgement. The apology was accepted, and
perhaps the incident would and should have ended there. But Black's
colleague in the oceanography department, fire-breathing Lt. Cmdr.
Shelly Whisenhant, pushed the issue up the chain-of-command. And now
"political correctness" may end the career of a Navy officer with an
otherwise unblemished career. Not exactly the "image" the Navy would
like to present to the public.

It's happened again. That SGLI (Serviceman's Group Life Insurance)
sure is tempting, apparently, for some service wives. A few, who
want to "cash in" and be rid of their military husbands, aren't
content to wait and see if they get killed in Iraq. They want the
"big bucks" now, and are even eager to hustle hubby into the
graveyeard ahead of their time if that's what it takes.
Cops suspect Cynthia Sommers, 32, is another one of those "Black
Widows" who seem to be so prevalent in the news lately. But for
three years, the ungrieving widow and former sandwich shop worker in
California "lived it up" on the late Sgt. Todd Sommer's life
insurance money.
Just two weeks after his death Feb. 18, 2002, the sergeant's dear
wife was throwing parties, got a "boob job" to enhance her figure,
and found a new boyfriend, another Marine enlisted man. She even
stuck you, the taxpayers, with the bill for moving her furniture from
San Diego to Florida at government expense, where she set up house
with Ross Ritter, since discharged from the Corps.

Paul Berkley, 46, of Raleigh N.C. on Christmas morning. Waiting for

Berkley was shot dead, and his no-good spouse called 911, sobbing
that she had been wounded. The tubby wife had indeed a slight injury
in the arm, but her hubby lay dead on the trail with a gunshot to the
head.
Monique Berkley, 26, screwed up her plan and made cops suspicious
when she took all of three minutes to tell police someone else
besides her was shot. The dispatcher heard a man groaning in agony
in the background and asked the "black widow" who that was. It was
only then that the scheming woman admitted her husband had been
gunned down.
