-Caveat Lector- You seem to have no love of anything not directly connected with your idea of beauty or value. To the native people who call the artic home, it is an area of great and immense beauty, with its sky of northern lights and brilliant stars, it's vast open landscape of white in winter and wildflower covered meadows in summer, its vast herds of caribou. To you it is a barren and uncultivated land. So, in your opinion does land have to be "cultivated"...ie, denuded of natural vegetation, plowed, fertilized and made to grow food crops for man, in order to be considered valuable? Are your domesticated livestock, your cattle and sheep, more valuable and important than the herds of caribou which fulfill the same role? Is all the world only here to serve man's never ending "needs" and gluttony, until nothing is left at all? You claim it is spiritually and emotionally arid and unsatisfying: I believe that the native people that inhabit these "barren wastelands" have far more spiritual and emotional depth and satisfaction than you, with your gas guzzling gizmo dependent life style would ever dream of.
