We will discuss how to deal with distressed students including recognizing signs of potential problems, the role of faculty and staff in helping students, how to make a referral, and crisis intervention. We will also discuss how to facilitate a classroom discussion of Katrina and its aftermath, a topic that may be distressing to some students in class. Lastly, we will look at resources for faculty and staff as we all recoup following the trauma of this fall.
