Subject: Fishing for a "Libby" from ex-President Bush's Nephew?

"I am innocent ... [I] did not do drugs -- they're not mine," Lohan [immediately] wrote in an e-mail to "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush*** ... Police found cocaine in one of Lohan's pockets during a pre-booking search.

Celebrity cokeheads should look out for each other, right?

"In 1972, George W. Bush was arrested for cocaine possession but had his record expunged with help from his family's political connections." (Source: "Fortunate Son: George W. Bush and the Making of an American President," J.H. Hatfield, St. Martin's Press.)

In trouble, out of police custody and back in rehab, actress Lindsay Lohan could face some hard prison time -- some experts say up to six years -- following her arrest early Tuesday in Santa Monica, charged with drunken driving and possession of cocaine.

Lohan, whose party-hearty celebrity life and troubled family history has been the stuff of gossip columns for more than a year, was picked up after being involved in a car chase with the mother of one of her personal assistants.

Lohan's last film, "Georgia Rule," did poorly at the box office, and a new project, "Poor Things," was put on hold after Lohan entered rehab earlier this summer.

On Tuesday, the film's backers were standing by Lohan.

"We continue to be enthusiastic in our belief of 'Poor Things,' and our sole focus is moving this film into production," the film's producer, Rob Hickman, said in a statement. "We expect to announce details on a start date in the very near future."

Lohan was scheduled to appear Tuesday night on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to promote her new film, "I Know Who Killed Me." That appearance was canceled.

"This makes Paris Hilton's problems look minimal," publicist Michael Levine told ABC News. "She's got to get herself in the hands of some very serious rehabilitation specialists for a long period of time. If she's able to make a statement where she accepts responsibility and does whatever it takes to get well, that would be preferable."

Lohan's latest trouble was precipitated by her being involved in a car chase Tuesday with the mother of a former employee, police said. The mother summoned police by phone, and they subsequently caught up with Lohan.

Police said yesterday Lohan failed two breath-analysis tests, which indicated her blood alcohol level was between .12 and .13; California's legal limit is .08. A small amount of a white powder that police said was cocaine was found in her pants pocket at the police station at the time of her 1:30 a.m. arrest.

Lohan was booked on two counts of driving under the influence, possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license, according to police. She was released shortly after 6 a.m. on $25,000 bail.

"Addiction is a terrible and vicious disease," said Lohan's lawyer, Blair Berk, in a statement. "Since Lindsay's transition to outpatient care, she has been monitored on [an alcohol detection] bracelet and tested daily in order to support her sobriety. Unfortunately, late yesterday I was informed Lindsay had relapsed. The bracelet has now been removed."

Lohan left a Malibu rehabilitation center earlier this month after a six-week stay. She checked into another undisclosed facility Tuesday, reports said.

Only last week, Lohan turned herself in to Beverly Hills police to face a driving under the influence charge in connection with a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash. She was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 24 on those charges.

Michael Lohan, Lindsay's father, who lives in Huntington, said through his lawyer, John DiMascio Jr., that Lindsay's latest quandary gives him new incentive to resolve divorce and custody issues of Lindsay's younger siblings with his wife, Dina. DiMascio said Michael Lohan is not ready to withdraw his legal complaints entirely.

In an interview on "Larry King Live" Tuesday night, Michael Lohan said he partially blamed himself for Lindsay's problems and said he objected to the friends she keeps, calling them enablers who are "just there to make a paycheck."

The fact that Lohan went directly back to rehab Tuesday is encouraging, "but that in and of itself isn't going to be the answer," said Rick Terenzi, chief of the Drug Treatment and Education Center at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. "It's become very fashionable to be in rehab, but being in rehab is more than taking up space," he said. "What you're talking about is readiness for treatment. Ultimately, each patient has to somehow be ready to be committed to making treatment work."

On Saturday, May 15, 2004, onThe Washington Post, published an item about Jonathan Bush which states: "... President Bush's uncle, Jonathan J. Bush, a top executive at Riggs Bank, this week agreed to pay a record $25 million in civil fines for violations of law intended to thwart money laundering." The bank accounts under investigation may have been Saudi, though the article does not state that. It does, however, go on to say: "...a source familiar with the multiple federal investigations of the bank's Saudi accounts and other embassy accounts say Jonathan Bush's investment advice unit has "no relationship whatsoever" with any of the Riggs's Saudi accounts." Moreover, the newspaper quotes a spokesman for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as saying "any suggestion of political influence in the Riggs situation is 'preposterous.'" In 1991, Bush was fined $30,000 in Massachusetts and several thousand in Connecticut for violating registration laws governing securities sales. He was barred from securities brokerage with the general public in Massachusetts for one year.
