Subject: Papal Aide's Warning: Islam a Threat to "Christendom" -- Another "Crusades"?

Papal aide warns of

'Islamisation of Europe'

ALLAN HALL IN BERLIN

THE principal aide to Pope Benedict XVI has issued a stark warning over the danger of the "Islamisation of Europe" .

Monsignor Georg Gaenswein** speaks with the full authority of the Catholic Church about a Muslim domination of Europe.

He made it clear that Europe's Christian roots are under threat from a resurgent Islam.

He also spoke of Islam not being a single force but a religion of extremes, with extremists who "turn to rifles for their goals".

His comments come just a year after the newly appointed Pope enraged Muslims worldwide with a speech linking Islam with violence.

It led to churches being burned in the West Bank, a nun being shot dead in a Somalian hospital and the Iranian president accusing him of being in league with the US president, George Bush, to "repeat the Crusades" of old.

But Mgr Gaenswein has defended Pope Benedict's speech, saying it was an attempt by the Pontiff to "act against a certain naivety".

Vatican watchers say this is clearly aimed at western governments who bend over backwards to accommodate Muslims at cost to their own native Christian cultures.

THE VATICAN'S HOTTEST TWOSOME?

As Andrew Sullivan, ex-conservative, now somewhat quasi-"libertarian," gay Catholic recently put it about the rumors of a liason between Pope Benedict XVI and his very loyal, always present private secretary, Msgr. Georg Gänswein: "Butch it up, sister. Or the jokes will only get louder."

**Reverend Monsignor Georg Gänswein, JCD (born July 30, 1956 in Riedern am Wald, Waldshut, Baden-Württemberg) is a German priest of the Roman Catholic Church, and the personal secretary of Pope Benedict XVI.

Known by Italians as (due to his handsome looks) Beautiful George, Gänswein was born in a small town of Germany and ordained to the priesthood in 1984. Upon his ordination, Gänswein dedicated himself to rigorous academic activities. He received his doctorate in canon law at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich in 1993, and arrived in Rome in 1995 as an official of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

In 1996, Gänswein was invited by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger to join the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. After being appointed to Cardinal Ratzinger's staff, Gänswein was elevated by Pope John Paul II to Chaplain of His Holiness. Msgr. Gänswein replaced Josef Clemens as Ratzinger's secretary in 2003, upon Clemens's appointment to the Pontifical Council for the Laity. Ratzinger was elected to the papacy in 2005, and a year later he named his secretary a Prelate of His Holiness. Gänswein has been rumoured to replace the ageing Friedrich Cardinal Wetter as the new Archbishop of Munich.

In his private life, Gänswein devotes his time to playing tennis, skiing, and flying airplanes.

In January 2007 it emerged that Msgr. Gänswein influenced Donatella Versace's spring fashion collection after she was quoted as saying, “I was thinking of an austere, severe and ethical man. I find Father Georg’s austerity very elegant”[2].

Georg Gänswein: The Black Forest Adonis

If you recall, Gänswein is the personal secretary to Pope Benedict. It just so happens that he is a very handsome guy. In his late 40s, he possesses rugged good-looks with the aire of intellectual sophistication. He exudes charm and grace -- a traditional object of affection for the fairer sex. Now The Guardian is getting into the action with a piece so affectionately entitled "Though shall not drool." The Italian press has been swooning over this guy for months, including noted gay magazines. Looks like that charm just doesn't end with the ladies. I find this whole thing ludicrous. Sure he is a good lookin' guy, but he's a priest. C'mon. Enough already.
