Were those Sinai hippos, Nile Delta hippos, Galilean hippos or ultra-
conservative zealot/terrorist hippos? If you're gonna talk about any
hippo-conspirators, you should distinguish between the factions, else
you'll lose credibility. Anyway, the Lembas' real problem wasn't the
hippos, it was the Babylonians refusal to implement an Open Borders
policy, the same defect that plagues most Western govt's. If Freedom
of Access is denied, you'll have no choice but to flee sereptitiously,
maybe lead by *coyote* scum, who'll abandon you at their first chance.
So the Lembas [formerly Lambdas, formerly Lemuels] took to the hills
to escape Babylonian border patrols, and their *coyote* Buba missed a
turn north of Aqaba; and the next thing they know, they're headed up
the Rift Valley, across the Serengeti, then into the Transvaal. Yow.
Hippos to dodge, locusts to eat, great forbs to avoid bumping into.
Wotta pickle. Well, at least they've got a fun story to tell...

Unless you're Reptilioid, or Republican - they can digest just about
anything, swallowing radioactives, valuable ores, negotiable bonds,
third-world nations, military budgets, etc. But they still won't
bite on Open Borders. Bummer.
