S.Korea looks for missile help
   SEOUL, South Korea, July 2 (UPI) - South Korea is hoping to press U.
S. officials for help in the development of a missile with the range to
reach the capital of North Korea. The International Herald Tribune
reports that South Korean President Kim Dae Jung is expected to broach
the missile issue when he meets President Clinton in Washington
(Friday).

Kennedy through Bush documents released
   WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) - The National Security Council (Thursday)
is declassifying 1,624 historical documents from the Kennedy through
Bush administrations - formerly secret directives and memorandums
between the presidents and their national security advisers. The NSC
will list the documents on its Web site (www.whitehouse.
gov/WH/EOP/NSC/html/historical/), but individual documents will have to
be requisitioned by contacting the appropriate presidential library.

Montenegro may be in peril
   WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) - Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic
could be preparing for possible aggression against Montenegro, one of
Yugoslavia's constituent republics, warned NATO commander Gen. Wesley
Clark (Thursday). At a briefing, Clark said Milosevic is sending
reinforcements to the democratically governed republic and inserting
more ethnic Serbs and others who oppose Montenegrin President Milo
Djukanovic. Montenegro "remains a very sensitive area," Clark said.

F-16 warplane crashes
   HOMESTEAD, Fla., July 1 (UPI) - The Air Force says an F-16 jet from a
southern Florida reserve base has crashed (Thursday) in a remote area 15
miles west of Vero Beach, Fla., killing the pilot. The Air Force says
the unidentified victim was the only one aboard during the low-level
training exercise over central Florida.

Saudis cooperate with FBI on bombing
   WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) - The FBI is getting significantly improved
cooperation from Saudi officials in the investigation of the Khobar
Towers bombing, U.S. officials say privately (Thursday). The 1996 terror
bombing at a U.S. installation in Dhahran took the lives of 19 Air Force
members, but until now the FBI had received little cooperation from
Saudi Arabia in efforts to track down those responsible.

Clark: Milosevic may not be ousted
   WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) - NATO's top military commander says
(Thursday) he is not confident that Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic will be overthrown, despite growing opposition to his regime
in his country. Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee,
Gen. Wesley Clark said the opposition is "fragmented and weak" and has
been "traumatized by a campaign of covert terror against them."

Clinton relaxes computer export rules
   WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) - The Clinton administration (Thursday)
announced plans to relax export restrictions on powerful new computers
and allow more countries access to U.S.-made supercomputers. Despite
congressional concerns about technology transfers to countries like
China, administration officials say the restrictions will hurt U.S.
companies without improving national security - some new videogame
systems are too powerful for the current export controls.
